Macrossans Lawyers has an indepth understanding of Queensland legislation affecting land tenure and access including the Integrated Planning Act 1997, the Acquisition of Land Act 1967, the Land Act 1994 and the Property Law Act 1974.

This experience includes the team's involvement in the development of the multiple-use Robina Town Centre, which was the largest planned development in Australia at that time. The development spread beyond the town centre and included the surrounding residential, retail, commercial and industrial sites. The team was led by Partner Paul de Silva, who was appointed principal solicitor for the entire project.

Our experience

  • Advising on the development of two residential towers in Redcliffe, including negotiating contracts and financial arrangements, and establishing the body corporate
  • Advising corporate owners on terms for the resumption and compensation of land for the extension of the Brisbane to Coolangatta rail line and the pipeline for the Gold Coast Desalination Plant
  • Providing advice on planning and environment issues throughout Australia and New Zealand for the development of childcare business on both freehold and leasehold land for Austock Property Management
  • Advising the Gladstone Area Water Board on access to and maintenance of its pipeline, including its duties and obligations to the neighbours of the pipeline
  • Successfully negotiating council approvals for Suncare Villages' Brassall development.
  • On behalf of Ace Waste Group, acquiring Cleanaway's commercial waste operation in Melbourne and advised on the impact of various environmental issues
  • Acting for Rotan in the purchase of land and construction of commercial buildings in the Sydney CBD and the subsequent leasing
  • Acting for Daikyo Australia Pty Ltd in the acquisition and construction of a number of hotel, apartment buildings and golf courses on the Gold Coast and in Cairns.
  • Negotiating the contract for the development and construction of a $200 million regional shopping centre
  • Acting for many claimants seeking compensation under the Acquisition of Land Act arising out of resumptions by constructing authorities.
